Snail Mail Newsletter Archives?
A few months back in a blog post I referenced an old snail mail “Cooking Contest Newsletter” from back in the pre-internet days. One of our fantastic members, Lynne Laino, chimed in and said that she had kept many of these newsletters in her contest archives. Not only that, she was willing to send them to me so I could take a look!
It was such a treat to pour through old copies of “The Cooking Contest Newsletter” and “Uncommonly Good Cooks” from the late ’90’s. There were many familiar names in the winning recipe round-ups as well as several contests that are still active today!
I have to admit, now I’m hooked! I would love to be able to assemble a comprehensive archive of the old “snail mail” newsletters that used to be circulated back in the days before CCC went online.
If anyone has old issues, I would love to take a look! I will gladly cover shipping costs and treat them like gold while in my possession.
Here is what I have so far:
-Two issues of “The Cooking Contest Newsletter” May and June 1998
(Does anyone have any information as to when this newsletter began and ended?)
-Issues of “Uncommonly Good Cooks” from April 1998 through December 1999.
The April 1998 issue is labeled Volume 2, Issue 4. I am guessing that means the issues began circulating in January of 1997? I am also not sure when the hard copy distribution of this newsletter ended. Should anyone have information on this front, please let us know!
I have a binder full of Cooking Contest Chronicle which I had subscribed to during that time.
OMG Pat! Might I be able to borrow them for a while, make copies and then send them back to you?!
How many are you interested in, Kristina?
I’ll take a look at everything that you have, Pat!
Those old newsletters are priceless! I wish I would have kept all of mine!
Kristina had mine for a bit. She really didn’t have to return them so soon.
could someone make copies for me? I would pay for the copies.
