2002 CORNBREAD COOK-OFF
|
The National Cornbread Cook-Off was in South Pittsburg, Tenn., where 10 contestants vied for the Grand Prize. Half of the Finalists turned out to be Cooking Contest Central regulars: Ruth Kendrick, Terry Moore, Karen Shankles, Kim Rollings, and Diane Sparrow. "We had a great time," said Diane Sparrow, the 2002 winner. "They provided a hospitality room that was open during the entire event with great southern food and libations." The entire event was put out live on the Internet, and a film clip was still available at:

The contest sponsors received more than 1,000 entries. Diane won $3,000 cash and a $2,500 Five Star
gas range. Karan Shankles won 3rd place and $300. "The people in South Pittsburg did a wonderful job of showing true Southern hospitality," Diane said.
