2003 NATIONAL CORNBREAD COOK-OFF
|

1st Place, Gaynell Lawson, of Tennessee, won over the judges with her "White Chicken Chili with Cheddar Hushpuppy Crust." She was awarded a FiveStar 30-inch gas range valued at $2,500, plus $4,000. (Contest sponsors added $1,000 to the published $3,000 first place prize at the awards ceremony.)
In 2nd Place, CCCentral member Nikki Norman, of Tennessee and Florida, took home $500, and in 3rd Place, CCCentral member Norita Solt, of Iowa, took home $300. The remaining seven finalists, including CCCentral members, Linda Spranger, of Mich., and Mike Trantham, of Texas, were awarded $100 cash. Plus, all 10 finalists received special gifts from Lodge Cast iron and Martha White.
The Food Network show "All American Festivals" were filming at the cook-off for two days. The National Cornbread Festival episode will air this fall.
