What file types does the contest site support? I tried uploading a jpeg and a bitmap but both times I got an error message that the file wasn’t allowed and then it kicked me out. What am I doing wrong? ;.)

Haven’t tried yet, but from past experience that might be because you file is too large. Reduce it and try again.
