Cooking Contest Central recently hosted an official World Food Championships qualifying event, the Vegetarian Taco Challenge.

The Vegetarian Taco Challenge was all about proving that tacos didn’t need meat to be unforgettable. We were looking for creative, craveable taco recipes where vegetables, grains, legumes, and plant-based ingredients took center stage. From globally inspired flavor profiles to inventive toppings, sauces, and salsas, participants showed us just how exciting a meatless taco could be.

Congrats to our three winners who have earned a golden ticket to compete in the vegetarian category at the 2026 World Food Championships this October. The below results are in no particular order.
