MasterChef is back for another season and we have a brand new contributor to keep us all in the loop. Welcome Kinga Szymoniak and enjoy her weekly MasterChef recaps!

MasterChef Season 4 Premiere

Tonight marks the start of MasterChef Season 4! It looks like it will be a very interesting season. Some of the dishes that were cooked during the first round of auditions included: Cajun Style Beaver, Braised Pork Shoulder with Salsa Verde and Greek Wedding Soup.

During the first day of auditions, Adriana, a college student from New York, created a Mexican Cactus Soup with Dry Shrimp Croutons. Ramsey, Bastianich and Graham were impressed with her dish but were also worried about whether or not she was strong enough to compete. In the end, Bastianich gave her the second “yes” needed to earn her an apron.

Another contestant, Crissy, a single mother from Philadelphia, impressed the judges with Meatloaf Florentine, Asparagus and Potatoes. I am especially curious to see where she will get in the competition since I am a single mother just like her and have a son the same age.

So far, Jordan from Minneapolis, a delivery driver, seems to be a tough competitor to watch out for. He “painted” for the judges an Ancho Chile Tostada dish.

A MasterChef “first” also took place during the auditions. George from Ohio proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Maria, in front of the three chefs. What a creative proposal! She of course said “yes.” George gets an A+ from me in the romance department.

Day two of auditions opened with Beme, a 33 year old father of three. He cooks at home for his three daughters. Beme presented the judges with Mofongo de Camarones. He got a “yes” from Graham and Ramsey earning him an apron.

Another contestant was Jessie from Georgia. She made Sea Bass en Croute. Graham gave her a “yes”, however Ramsey needed some convincing by challenging Jessie to butcher the fish. She passed with flying colors!

Sasha, a 42 year old from Alabama, sang for the judges before cooking. When asked why she would be the next MasterChef, she said that it’s because she does everything well.

Who will be the next MasterChef? I know I can’t wait to see. The journey begins today…
